Busy Busy Busy

Busy, Busy, Busy

So, this weekend was busy. I am now more tired than rejuvenated for the start of my week. BUT it was a fun weekend!

On Friday night, Martin came into town around 6:30pm. We went to Pluckers because he hadn't had it in forever, and we were hoping that we could get free fried pickles with our Pluckers Rewards Card. I mean come on, they always have free fried twinkies (ewwww) and free fried oreos (ewwww but yummmm) but no pickles?!?! It's a conspiracy. Afterwards we continued our unhealthy night at Amy's Ice Cream, which was delicious. Then we went home and really demonstrated our lamness awesomeness by falling asleep with dog-in-bed (see below!) by 10pm. Sweet.

Saturday I worked all day at the Hospital with my preceptor (6:30a - 7:00p) while Martin had all day with Izzy! I told him I would need documentation of their day with pictures, and he totally obeyed :) Since my pic skills are apparently lacking, here is a sideways Izzy at Starbucks with dad.

We took this pic when I got home on Saturday night. Martin was freezing in my apt so he borrowed a hoodie. Izzy was NOT having any of that. "Dad you look sketchy".

I worked all day Sunday as well. Martin took Izzy to the bar with his friend to watch football, cause that's normal... Anyways, that night we went to Frank's for dinner and had yummy hotdogs with lots of dipping sauces. We decided the buffalo bleu was our favorite and the Dr. Doppleganger BBQ was also one of Martin's faves. If you haven't been to Frank's, it is a must! They have waffle fries, crazy drinks, kosher hot dogs with crazy toppings, and chocolate bread pudding that is so rich even I, Meghan Mager could not finish it.

Ok, I have tons more to say, but I wanted to share my Izzy pics. I'll post again soon!

I'm Finally a RN (real nurse)

So I studied all June and July for my N-CLEX, otherwise known as the nursing boards. Studing was the death of me. I mom and dad paid hundreds for a silly review where I watched weirdos lecture day after day. Needless to say, I really do think it paid off. I passed in 75 Q's which is the minimum amount you can get. Yes, I did just toot my own horn.
Mighty Nurse cramming for the NCLEX

Last night was the UT Pinning Ceremony for my cohort of AE MSN's. It was actually really nice and official. The dean spoke as well as several professors and some fellow students. My mom flew into town just to pin me which was pretty cool! I feel super official now. Actually, I don't at all - which is sort of silly. Guess when I am finally alone in a room with a patient searching for a vein I just might feel official. Funny how the things that don't really matter, matter.
See how cute my mom is?!
...And see my pin??

After the pinning, mom and I went to Uchiko for dinner. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic and guided us smoothly through the menu which is 90% Japanese, a.k.a. totally foreign to us 'MERICANS. Anyways, we shared 4 small dishes which was more than enough. I honestly think this was the best dinner I've ever had. We shared the shishito peppers (which packed a punch oddly enough - usually they are super mild), the Hama Chili dish, the Yokai berry dish, and the lemon chili brussels sprouts. Every flavor combination was succulent and delicious. Seriously, this place is genious. I even wrote RSVPBonAppetit this morning to have them get the Brussels Sprouts recipe. They've got to pick me, right? Anyways, then the waiter surprised me with an order of the Fried Milk for dessert to celebrate my RN. It was my least favorite part of the meal, but so sweet nonetheless.

I enjoyed my mom's visit and Izzy did also. Mom brought her a new squeaky toy that she is obsessed with and some peanut butter bones that she will SLOWLY indulge in  scarf down. As if all of this wasn't enough mom and dad gave me a sparkling new gold Michael Kors watch. Also, mom packed 5lbs of roasted, chopped, amazingly delicious green chili into her carry-on! I am set!

That's all she wrote.

Izzalicious

So,
I finally received the best present in the world. A pooch. For my Birthday, the boy (see right) got me Miss Izzy (see below). She is a Chocolate Lab that is approximately a year and a half and spunky as a pup (considering she will probably act like a pup until her golden years). Anyways, Izzy is a wild woman - my best buddy. At first I was a ton a bit  overwhelmed by her hyper-ness.  She would get the doggy "zoomies"several times daily and jump on me endlessly until I was covered in scratches. Shortly after though, with lots of routines in place, Izzy and I grew accustomed to one another and we are two peas in a pod (and when dad is around, we're three!).
Izzy LOVES food, car rides, toys that squeak, food, napping, chewing things, and food.
This picture was taken after her first 3 mile walk around Town Lake. She was pooped!

Izzy has met her whole family except for her Aunt Jules and Aunt Lauren. She loves her entire family, especially when they give her toys and treats.

A few days ago, Izzy was diagnosed with doggy Mange. Now, this may sound yucky to you, but really it is a parasite that lives on ALL dogs. Izzy's immune system couldn't handle hers for whatever reason and so it started to affect her hair. She has about 5 bald spots, the size of pencil erasers. It is not contagious and she is highly self-conscious about her appearance (she told me so). So please no jokes about parasites people ; )

Ok, well I am off to start the day. I don't feel particularly productive. Especially when this is napping right next to me...
